BEEF - THE WAY NATURE INTENDED

Our small, 170-acre family farm is located in central North Carolina,

on the edge of the beautiful Uwharrie National Forest.

We are excited to offer consumers an alternative to conventional beef.

We are raising cows the way nature intended.

Our cows spend their entire lives grazing peacefully on open grassland.

They are grass finished, meaning they are never given grain.

Most of the beef sold in stores today is from animals that are fed grain for the

last 90-120 days of their life to boost their weight.

So, why is it important for cows to be finished on grass?

Research shows that the meat from cows that are given grain in the last weeks of life loses

most of its healthy benefits like CLA, and those beneficial vitamins and nutrients.

Our cows are raised naturally without growth hormones or antibiotics.

If an animal is ill and requires antibiotic treatment it is removed from our regular program

and not sold at our markets.

We keep it simple ~ grass, water and sunshine.

  • Grass-fed Health Benefits

Studies show that grass fed products contain higher levels of beneficial vitamins and

nutrients. Less total fat, saturated fat and calories. More vitamin E, betacarotene, vitamin C

and healthy fats, including omega-3 fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid or CLA, a

             proven anticarcinogen.

Processing

Our processor, Mays Meats

Our cows are processed at a federally inspected butcher plant in Taylorsville, NC.  Mays Meats is a modern facility that is  Animal Welfare Approved and does a excellent job of handling our steers with minimal stress. The USDA inspection allows us to sell our meat to individuals, restaurants, groceries, etc. The processor cuts to our specifications, vacuum seals, labels, then flash freezes the product. Our beef is picked up then stored on site at our farm where we sell to the public by appointment and at local farmers markets.
